UNTIL DEATH DO US PART

or maybe until things get too hard

It is no coincidence that Jesus uses the examples of marriage and family when He is explaining our relationship to Him, and His to us. He uses the reference of husbands and wives to explain order. A wife who is not submitted to her husband is not fully submitted to the Lord. A husband who cannot understand the responsibility of truly leading his family cannot understand the true love of God. Jesus is submitted to the Father. The Father’s heart breaks when one of His children strays. Jesus is the bride groom and we are the bride. It is all so related and intertwined. The problem we have in America is that we are independent and rebellious, however the truth shall set us free!! As Americans we say we are a Christian nation but there is no fruit of it, no evidence. Mass abortions, ungodly leadership, materialism, sexual immorality, that is the evidence of who we worship. We worship our own sinful desires, it is obvious! It is no surprise then that our families and marriages are broken as can be. We as Americans have not only divorced each other but we have divorced Jesus! And as with the natural and the spiritual divorce the children suffer, and suffer, and suffer. It is almost like a snowball that is rolling and cannot be stopped. It is a generational curse that keeps going and going. The physical parents divorce, so their children divorce. The spiritual parents divorce (backslide) so their spiritual children divorce (backslide). It goes on and on and on, where will it end? It ends when we make a commitment!! Jim and I were not following the Lord when we married, I was being pulled and he was happy sinning. As I made a commitment to the Lord, I would never leave Him or give up on my marriage. I had a lot to learn about serving the Lord and being a Godly wife, I still do, but it all started with a commitment. That commitment broke that generational curse. Was everything peachy after that? Far from it, things got worse. But the Lord spoke to me and promised me that He would give me what it would take to forgive my husband for anything he might do. The Lord reminded me of how big His forgiveness is and how could I hold a grudge after all I had been forgiven of. I had plenty of good biblical reasons to consider divorce, but I didn’t because I had made a COMMITMENT TO JESUS. There is absolutely no good excuse for a Christian to divorce. Make a commitment! Make a commitment to follow Jesus no matter what and your marriage will fall into place. If we can’t handle marriage in the physical what makes you think you’ll be part of that pure and spotless bride that will marry Jesus. Jesus will give you the same unconditional love for your spouse that He has for you if you will only ask Him. Your spouse may not be perfect, but have you ever failed Jesus? What would we do if He wanted to divorce us for being imperfect? Yet He has promised to never leave us or forsake us, how can we walk away so easy? His love is never ending, how come we shut it off so easy? Where does it begin? Begin by repenting, “Jesus I’m sorry, I’ve taken your covenant lightly, I will commit to your ways, I will give you leadership of my marriage, I will never again consider divorcing you or my spouse, I will be married until death do us part, yet not even death will separate us Jesus, I will be married to you eternally.” There is freedom in a life long commitment. I made a commitment and Jesus not only gave me perseverance, but He saved my husband. Jim didn’t want to stay married and he didn’t want to follow Jesus, yet look at where he is now! He is the first to tell you, this is peace.

Are you already divorced?

Don’t condemn yourself, but take this to heart, repent and move forward. Is there forgiveness after divorce? YES,YES,YES!!! But even though Jesus offers forgiveness, if your out of His will it’s hard to see the forgiveness. Remember the prodigal son? Luke 15. Yes Jesus welcomed him home but it wasn’t His will for him to end up in the pig-pen in the first place, your spouse may not be your idea of a gift from God but it is better than sleeping with a PIG!! Get the point! Like I’ve said it’s not my job to be liked, it’s my job to share something with you that keeps you out of the pig-pen.
