      NOV/DEC 2003 VOL 6 NUM 9

Dear Friends,       We have been blessed to be in some really great meetings lately, seen some really great things. Seen miracles that looked like miracles and seen some miracles that others might not have recognized. Some times we don’t call it a miracle if it doesn’t turn out the way we think it should. But when He pours out His love upon us in a way that we can not work up it is exactly that, a miracle. And we have seen lots of that lately. We were real blessed by Beau and Rachel Barton as we got to spend some time with their family. The Fire and Glory meeting went into Saturday night and the folks at First Assembly were absolutely wonderful. The worship brought in the presence of the Lord in waves, and He stayed. Beau brought lots of new testimonies, this was my favorite. I’ll give you the short version, as I remember it. An Indian man was saved but in need of healing, the brothers prayed and the man just knew he was going to be healed because if the brothers told him about salvation and that was so true then the healing part must be too. Even after a hopeless report from the Dr.s the man was healed. After some time of walking with Jesus the man developed a large cyst/tumor/open sore on his leg. He again asked for the brothers to pray for him. He absolutely knew he would be healed again, even though he got another bad report. After a few weeks of prayer the man’s unbelieving daughter came to care for him. The brother continued to pray for him. The daughter continued to care for him. Then one morning the man got up and walked, the tumor/open sore completely gone. The daughter saw what had happened and melted at Jesus’ feet, giving herself to him. She had been changing the bandages, she knew this was real. The whole family came to Jesus. This was the part that got me, he said it was all was all worth it!!! It’s not all about power, it’s also about purpose. The man knew it wasn’t all about him, he set his selfish desires aside to serve Jesus. And he was rewarded! He believed, he had been healed before. Yet there was a bigger purpose. He was so submitted to Jesus, that he was willing!!! Oh Lord make us willing! You know there is one scripture that has always scared me. Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to me, Lord , Lord, will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons, and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me you evil doers!” Oh how I fear for them, to have their security in their powerful works. Powerful, but works nonetheless. Now don’t get me wrong, we believe, we have seen healing, and miracles, we have seen the dead raised more than once and personally know them that were once dead. We have seen the power and walk in it, but without knowing Him, it is all vanity. And it has to be for His purposes not ours, or it benefits nothing. The evil doer Jesus is rebuking is one who is operating in power, knows the word inside and out and knows how to use it. Uses Jesus’ name, and uses it right. But all the while not knowing Jesus. What does “know” mean? it can mean different things, but here I believe it means, knowing like a husband knows a wife. Remember He is the groom and we are the bride. The kind of “knowing” that brings forth fruit. And it is really strange but when you are walking intimately with the Lord, losing a loved one or going through a major trial puts you in that “knowing place” even more so than seeing a miracle or a healing. Because all of a sudden your totally dependent on Him. And He delights in that. When you really get to “knowing” Him, you begin to use His power for His purposes, not just your own. You don’t even think of your own anymore, you are just consumed with thoughts of Him. I had a new revelation recently. The “power people” usually the charismatic church, but it could have been any sect, would have prayed Jesus right off the cross before His blood was spilt if they were given the opportunity. You know it’s true, might even be you! They would be rebuking the enemy and commanding the enemy to let Him go. They would be speaking in tongues, and they might even march around the cross seven times blowing a shofar. Not that there is any thing wrong with any of that, but it has it’s time and place, and it has got to be HIS time and HIS place. Jesus uses trials tribulations and judgments to mold us into HIS image, how dare we rebuke that!! Sometimes it hurts but it is Him at work. Amos 3:6 says, “..when disaster comes to a city has not the Lord caused it?” Did you get that, the Lord caused it. Not the enemy. Does the Lord do these things because He is angry and mean? Hateful and spiteful? Old and tired? Of course not, He does such things because He loves His children and will do ANYTHING to draw them into maturity, into His intimacy, into HIS arms. Submission is a good thing. Know His character, Hear His voice, feel His heartbeat, melt in HIS LOVE. Victory isn’t always in the end event but how we stand throughout, how we submit to HIM. That is victory. That is Eternal.
