Dearest Friends,
This same scripture from last month still has so much in it I don’t think I am done yet. Phillipians 4:12-13 "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
A few weeks ago some of our horses were once again out of the pasture and we had to hunt them down. It is springtime, there is lots of green grass and every other thing that could make them happy but still they wanted something different. I was just kind of talking to myself and saying, "why do they want to go outside the fence, everything they need is right here". Georgia answered me with her witty matter of fact answer, "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence". Well you know here in middle TN the grass is green everywhere, very green! But boy was she right, and you know that many Christians have the same problem.
The creator of the universe sent His one and only Son to take our place and die for our sins. His sacrifice erasing for all eternity that GUILTY verdict that hung over our head. And yet we still stray out side His fences of safety thinking we deserve more. Then we get pounced on by the enemy and we wonder where God is. Cannot we just be content knowing that He knows what we need? Can’t we just worship Him where we are at? We probably don’t need that bigger place, or that better car or that fancier church or that high paying high stress job or that who knows what else, and we definitely don’t need someone else’s husband or wife. We probably also don’t need to go to every revival meeting and every conference there is. Sure He is leading sometimes but most of the time, all of the time, He is just saying, "STOP and worship me where you are!" He says, "I am enough." He is our greener pasture. His ways are our safe fences. Yet all too often we feel we deserve more, especially us Americans. We have sinned and fallen short to the Glory of God, yet He has paid the price for us. Recently during one of our services I just kept hearing the Lord say, "payday, it’s payday." But the revelation was we get paid according to His Works not ours. That thought ought to keep us at His feet for centuries alone. Have you ever done anything really wrong? Really, really wrong? You knew you deserved judgment, punishment, jail time or even the death penalty, remember the wages of sin, any sin, are death. Yet instead of death or judgment or even punishment, you got GRACE? You had your sentence erased and forgiven, and on top of that you got healing and love. Is that not enough to humble us? Do we ever deserve more than that? No of course not, so worship Him, love Him, serve Him. Get your eyes off of yourself and onto His.
"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in
green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides
me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake. . ." Spend some time in
His green pastures.

FROM THE ROCK FAMILY WORSHIP CENTER OF HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA-Will be our guest minister at "The Well" on sat June 10, at 7pm. David and Ruth Nelson are lovingly named "Pastor Dad" and "Pastor Mom" by many within The Rock. As Pastors Emeritus, they have retired from full-time senior pastorates, but have continued in ministry by actively leading Eagle's Wings, The Rock's senior adult ministry. They also oversee missions and building projects and help with outreaches. Eagle's Wings Senior Adult Ministry services are every third Tuesday night of the month. Special trips and fellowships are held throughout the year. They consider it to be an honor after 40 years of ministry to be at The Rock ministering with their children and enjoying their grandchildren.April will be leading worship. IN CLOSING-
Recently a young man who Jim had met in the jail and had been a part of our church was found dead. He was only 27 and the cause is still pending, waiting on the autopsy results. He knew the Lord and had a real relationship with Him. My favorite memory of him is that every time he came in the church he came up to me and would smile and click his heals together and say, "there is no place like home, there is no place like home". Yes he considered our church his home but what he really meant was the peace he found in Jesus. He is truly home now. The job the Lord has given us is real serious and sometimes really hard. Sometimes they say they want Jesus and yet they won’t surrender, that is the toughest, to have that discernment. Troublemakers come and go and are just that, trouble. But who knows which troublemaker will turn from their ways? Only the Lord knows but it does make you weary sometimes. Mike was one that surrendered, and only the Lord knew Mike would be with Him so soon. So we press on, investing His time and love in as many as we can.
Thank you so much for being part of what we do. It is encouraging to know that y’all are out there praying that the Lord would provide what He knows we need, strength mostly, but also other things. We know we are used by Him but we also know we can’t do it without all the support from those of you He moves on. Please let us know when the Lord has you praying for us, it keeps us going.
