Dearest Friends, Wow, springtime sure is busy isn’t it? Most people think that harvest only happens in the fall, but actually a lot is harvested in the spring also. Spring is actually a unique time because there is planting and harvesting all going on at the same time. So this month I though I would share about the planting and harvesting that is done with our mouths on a daily basis. Since we minister in so many different places we hear a lot of things, but one thing I hear a lot of that I would rather not hear are excuses. Excuses why people can’t submit to Christ, excuses why they can’t serve Him, excuses why they can’t forgive, excuses why they can’t love and serve their spouse, excuses, excuses, excuses. And all these excuses from those who say they belong to Him! If there is one scripture I could tatoo on everyone’s forehead so that we would all not forget it, it would be Phillipians 4:13 "I can do everything through him who gives me strength." The whole book of Phillipians is worth reading and one of my favorites, but for now let’s look at why Paul said this. He had been through more trials than most of us. Yet he still served the Lord with joy, and no excuses. He didn’t have an easy life, he had lots of past regrets, he had lots of bad relationships with people he used to be in agreement with. They accused him of all kinds of things that he didn’t do. Then of course they reminded him of things that he had done. He had plenty of reasons to give up and get depressed. But instead he looked at things this way, from Phillipians 4:12-13 "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength." So, if that was Paul’s response then we have nothing to complain about! We can no longer say, "I can’t" or "it’s too hard" or "but you don’t understand" . No, I don’t know your trial but like Paul I know some one who does, and He doesn’t accept any excuses! Even if you have been abused! Do you remember that Jesus was abused? Abused by our sins, and yet He went to the cross anyway! Everybody in America thinks they are abused in one way or another, there are counselors on every corner taking your insurance money. It is an epidemic it seems. But really, it is a ploy from the enemy to keep our eyes on self and off Jesus. And people use it as an excuse to not forgive and walk in the goodness of Christ’s love. They use their hardships as an excuse to not serve Him. Yet He says to them today, "GET OVER IT! I bled for you, I died for you, I rose for you! Accept what I have done and what I offer, stop whining, pick up your cross and FOLLOW ME!" I challenge you to share this with people you know and get in the habit of quoting this scripture every time you feel like whining, telling them and yourself, "for the symptom of whining take Phillipians 4:13 and repeat as often as needed until it gets deep in your spirit."

Remember back when we shared about all the suicide attempts happening in the county jail? Well the enemy is still lying but the King is greater and they are starting to hear Him instead! We see them getting free and learning how to worship! Working with inmates is such a pleasure because you can get real with them. "All have sinned and fallen short to the Glory of God" it says in the book of Romans. But when you try to tell that to someone who has been in church all their life or is a so called "good person" it takes forever to sink in. And it usually has to be so watered down so as not to offend their sensitive feelings. But with inmates you can just say , "hey you messed up". And their response is equally as simple, "yep, I sure did, and I am tired of it, you have an answer for me? We give them Jesus and they grab it because they already know they need Him.

IN CLOSING- We have seen some really amazing things lately, marriages restored, one divorced couple actually reconcile, broken relationships restored, and other things that only God could accomplish. He is in the restoring business. He also knows how to do it so much better than we could ever imagine. What ever it is that looks impossible in your life is the exact thing He is wanting from you. He wants you to place it in His hands and trust Him with it. He can when we cannot. Recently we have been blessed to hear from different people this comment, "when I was really in need we knew to call you, you folks are real, we knew you would tell us the truth". That is probably the greatest compliment we could get. We thank you for being part of the things we see Him doing, by praying and supporting us. We do have some ministry needs right now and some upcoming decisions to make so please don’t stop, pray that we hear Him clearly and that provision is there for the things He calls us to. May He bless you abundantly!
