January 2007 Volume 10 Number 1
Dearest Friends, What a busy season we have had. Usually winter is a time for us to kind of hibernate and recoup. But it seems we have been busier than ever. It is always a challenge to keep our priorities straight and to keep first things first. Obedience is more important than ever at a time like this, it would be so easy to get sidetracked. You know our human nature tends to squawk when given directions. Especially if they are different than the direction we are currently going in. Yet we are not our own. Our "to do" list must sync with His "to do" list.
We all know that the body of Christ is a bride. The bride to the Bridegroom. But have we all come to the realization that all of the scriptures about wives apply to us as that bride? Especially the ones that tell the wife how to be a good wife? And also the ones that speak of how to be a bad wife? Let us look at some scriptures about wives and see how they apply to US, ALL OF US, as the bride of Christ.
Recently the Lord has brought to my attention that the Body of Christ, His Bride, is a quarrelsome wife. She argues with everything He says. She needs to learn some Southern manners and simply say, "yes sir", and say it with respect not sarcasm. The bible has lots to say about the quarrelsome wife.
Proverbs 19:13
A foolish son is his father's ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is
like a constant dripping.
Proverbs 21:9
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a
quarrelsome wife.
Proverbs 21:19
Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and
ill-tempered wife.
Another way of being quarrelsome is nagging. The nagging wife is the topic of many jokes, usually by really lazy husbands. Yet OUR HUSBAND, OUR BRIDEGROOM is not lazy. And the topic of nagging wives is not a funny one to HIM. But oh how the world likes to make fun. And the church follows suit. Making light of not only a holy earthly union but also a holy heavenly one. Jesus the bridegroom cherishes his bride; He lavishes her with love and attention. He pours our blessings like oil upon her. And then He gently leads her in the ways of happiness. If she follows she has peace. But more often than not she is like an old rerun of the honeymooners. He says, "this way my beloved" and we say, "not now, I have better things to do". He says, "I love you" and we say, "then give me a Caddilac". He says, "I want you to do this" and we say, "I don’t want to". He says, "I want you to go this direction" and we give Him a long list of excuses, "I can’t, I’m too busy, it’s too hard, it costs too much, it will hurt my flesh, look at my friend they did this or that, I don’t want to, maybe later, maybe never". Then we gripe at Him because He doesn’t do what we want! And we keep on and keep on and keep on until we no longer even hear His voice because all we can hear is our own.
We all too often forget that our earthly relationships are a direct reflection of our heavenly one. If we have respect for one another here, we most likely have respect for the Lord. If we have rebellion here we most likely have rebellion towards the Lord. If we have a healthy parent/child relationship we most likely have a good understanding of God the Father. If we have been through many marriages on earth we most likely have a relationship problem with Heaven. This is exactly why the Lord tells us to respond with love, love and more love. The Word of God actually says some really extreme things.
Ephesians 6:5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.
Colossians 3:22
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it,
not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of
heart and reverence for the Lord.
Luke 6:28
bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat
you.
Now that would seem to be really extreme. But what it really all boils down to is the fact that we treat the Lord like we treat those around us. If we spend all day thinking, "poor me, I am so mistreated, my boss is mean, my husband beats me, my teacher is unfair, that officer that pulled me over was just targeting me out, life just isn’t fair, everybody mistreats me", then we also adopt the attitude that Jesus is unfair and that obedience is only something to give when we think they deserve it. And that is a very false Gospel. Which is why He gives us His Spirit and His Word. To be able to discern truth. Love is the answer, always. Americans have taken on such a victim mentality that they often even think God is abusive. But nothing can be farther from the truth. His ways are best for us, He knows what is safe for us and He knows what freedom is and He desperately wants us to walk in it. Get to know His ways, you’ll feel the love.
TRUE WORSHIP- April Raine something new, coming soon!
RECOMMENDED RESOURCES- this month was a toss up between "Facing the Giants" and the films from franklin Springs below. But all have the same theme. Serving God with all you have within you. Facing the Giants is a story of real dedication, honesty and a true overcoming spirit. Especially in the Charasmatic circles we hear all the overcoming scriptures but we rarely see it walked out, and we see very little honesty. Facing the Giants was not made by a Charasmatic church group. But it was made by an honest, "Lord I belive but help my unbelief" church group. It has more faith in it than a week full of tv preachers. I don't mean that disrespectfully towards tv preachers but honestly I am tired of hearing it without seeing it. I am really tired of the hype. Some people have been so brainwashed into "positive confession" that they can't honestly repent. And repentance has to come first, then the overcoming falls into place. So if you want to see a movie made by real people about real faith and real life, then you will love this! Click on the picture or go to our resources page here www.awesomeglory.com/rr
FAMILY MINISTRY- we would not be full time ministry if it wasn't something we could do and minister to our family first. If there was only one thing we could impart to people after learning to worship it would be learning to worship with their families! You cannot understand the concept of ministering to the body of Christ until you understand ministering to your own family. His body is a family! But we still don't understand that. America's families are just like the church. All separated and broken up. WE HAVE TO COME TOGETHER!!!!!
The Lord has dropped some family documentaries into my lap that I would like to share with you. We are making them available on our family site www.mommasheart.com . If you have that understanding of family these movies will inspire you. They are about families like yours and mine, families who have put Jesus first. They will strengthen you and remind you why you do what you do. If you don't yet have that understanding they will show you the "how and why" of family ministry.
These films are produced by Franklin Springs Family Media and here is a quote about their vision.
"We’ve established Franklin Springs Family Media to provide families with top-quality DVDs that set forth a vision for the fullness of a God-honoring family life. Our vision here is focused squarely on providing a picture of the exciting reformation that’s happening in families across the country. It’s a world of courageous servant/leader fathers, nurturing mothers who embrace the nobility of raising children, and children who embody the joyous adventure of being raised in a unified family. "
We hope you are as blessed as we have been, the films are available here www.mommasheart.com/bookstore
